In June 2020, I began volunteering at the Howard County Historical Society (HCHS) primarily as a docent for the county museum, but that quickly transitioned into more involved service roles as HCHS navigated the pandemic. I am incredibly invested in history and museum work which initially prompted my volunteering, but I soon realized my passion for investing in my hometown and local community. In March 2021, I was elected to the HCHS’s Board of Trustees with goals of providing a platform that highlights the diverse history of all the peoples of Howard County. As the youngest trustee, my ambitions emphasize increasing community interest and civic engagement from younger audiences as I believe investment in the youth is important for the future. As HCHS Board of Trustees Secretary, I am very involved in the Historical Society and the Howard County Museum which is housed at the Seiberling Mansion.
