Exhibit Experience
Working alongside my colleagues, we created and presented an exhibition brief on behalf of University Collections' Department of Campus Art at IU.
Big Idea
Our global interconnectedness is conveyed through the stories of 80 objects from the IU collection.
-
IU’s history has been enriched by connections formed with individuals across the globe.
-
Collected history is not objective; some people, viewpoints, and stories are omitted by collectors, including IU.
-
Current students can forge connections through interactions with their local and global communities.

Rationale
-
This exhibit will take the visitor around the "world" through the presentation of 80 objects, some of which will be displayed at satellite displays around Bloomington, to further reinforce the interconnectedness of the community.
-
This exhibit's scope is to recognize the global relationships behind objects and individuals and address their presence or lack thereof in IU's history. This lets us address potential provenance, connections, and disparities present through IU's objects.
-
The exhibit aligns with IU’s larger goals of international relations and allows collaboration with other groups like international programs, Bloomington campus cultural centers and student organizations, Global Gateways and more.
-
This participation can be extended to all the IU system, and/or create an opportunity for a traveling exhibit around the campuses which invites visitors to connect around the state.
